commissioned coffee table, bath

A commission for a  large coffee table for a barn conversion in Bath. The client had an old shower screen from a bathroom renovation to be used as the surface. The base was designed  to incorporate traditional pegged mortise and tenon joints. It was made from 100+ year old reclaimed solid oak from a flour mill. The table top rested on decorative recessed wine corks to stop it slipping. The close up shot also shows my makers mark.

A commissioned concrete desk and shelves for a basement renovation in an historic property in Ashley Down, Bristol. I renovated this whole basement as a project. The desk was made using melamine MDF, to give a polished concrete finish, and scaffold formers, which had to be extremely rigid to withstand the pressure of the wet concrete. I worked with the clients on concrete sampling at the outset to test different pigments and cements so that they could chose their preferred texture and colour.
